October Meet & Greet

Dear friends!

After the many delights of summer holidays, the International Women's Club opened its doors on September 16th and announced the new 2021-2022 season. As might be expected, it was a joyful, spectacular and emotional time for us all.

Our event began with a beautiful Indonesian dance performance; thanks to the Indonesian

Embassy's active participation and with special thanks to the Ambassadress Ms Fitria (Rennie)Tavares.

The IWC President from August 2020 to August 2021, Karen Lawrence Terracciano gave a touching speech in which she said goodbye to Moscow, but expressed her wish to maintain friendships with all the marvellous people she met in our Club. Working with Ms Karen was easy. She was an open-minded boss; ready to listen to new ideas.

Thanks to this skill, and to her overall adaptability, she made the right decisions regarding how the Club's activities were managed during lockdown.

Our new President is Ms Tobi Shawabkah: an energetic and outgoing person. She was invited by  Ms Terracciano to take over the role, and voted in by 100% of our Steering Committee members.

Ms Shawabkah gave us a wonderful self-presentation, telling us about her life and about how she envisions the purpose and mission for IWC. We look forward to working under the guidance of our new President!

We would like to thank everyone who took the time to come to the event.

We were delighted to welcome our members back and to greet the newcomers, including several newly arrived Ambassador's spouses.

The next Meet & Greet session, will take place on the 21st of October at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland. Not only will you get to discover more about the beautiful country of Poland, see the exhibition about great Polish women in history, but you will also have the opportunity to try traditional Polish dishes.

All in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

Ms Aldona with her daughter Maria

It is with great pleasure and excitement that we announce our newest appointment to Charity Chair. Ms Aldona Krajewska, Spouse of the Ambassador of Poland to the Russian Federation, commenced her duties as Charity Chair in June 2021.

Ms Aldona has a background and experience in working with children with special needs.

Our Meet&Greet saw it fitting to focus our month of October on Charity and trust that our newly appointed Chair will make the event memorable and impactful to the Club.

We will also be joined by representatives from the charities supported by IWC, and get more familiar with the works of each one.

Our Donation office accepts clothing, shoes for adults and kids, household items, home appliances and bed linen. Please be advised that everything has to be clean and in working order. Thank you for your help!

You will also have a chance to buy handmade items made by the pupils that our charities support and the book “Hidden World”: a project supported by the IWC two years ago.

Lastly, just like during all Meet & Greet sessions, we will be having a Raffle with plenty of unique prizes!

We hope to see you there!

With best regards,

Sona A. and Mashi M.
